On 8 March we competed against 16 other teams at the MD State Championship for VEX IQ and received the top award - the Excellence Award. VEX IQ is a platform that allows teams to design and build robots, which can be controlled via remote or by creating programs to run autonomously. Working diligently throughout the year, we improved our teamwork; designed and built a robot - learning a new CAD program; learned how to use a programming tool; and conducted research on the role of math in robotics. On 8 February we competed in the College of Southern Maryland regional tournament and qualified for the Maryland State championship by receiving the same Excellence Award. We then qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship in Anaheim, CA 23-26 April and the Summer Games in Hawaii in July.
